I installed 3 rigid sun tunnels in my mid century modern house. One in the walk-in closet and two in the master bathroom. We don't turn the lights on in the house till the sun sets. I highly recommend.
Lots of insects

I have had two of the skylights installed in my den but after a couple of years I noticed lots of dead insects laying on the diffuser. Apparently they are not sealed well enough and small insects get in them and eventually die on the diffuser. Very unsightly!The installation manual does not show how to remove the diffuser so I can clean it. Please give me some guidance.

I specified a solar tube style skylight to be added to my main bathroom which has no natural light (no window) and was always dark until a light was turned on. This 10" Velux is amazingly bright on sunny days and does well on overcast days. This photo is from an overcast day and still lights the room. It also does not collect moisture when showering but I do have an exhaust fan with light but the mirror will fog even with the fan on.

I was a little skeptical when our roofer suggested it but OmG , it saved money in the long run. Almost never having to turn lights on walking down long hall, and all the natural light was amazing. Ended up adding three total and the laundry one was my favorite. If your adding a new roof, they’re a must. Thank you.

Rechargeable batteries not Impressive

We had two rigid Velux sun tunnels installed in February. The interior work took a couple more months and the batteries were installed in one sun tunnel in May and the second sun tunnel in late October. The sun tunnels provided great light during the evening but the batteries in both sun tunnels failed by mid November. Very unsatisfied with this. The ceiling is 14’ high and having to change out with new batteries so soon is not what we expected.

14 tunnels in! And a question...

Ok, I have gone sun tunnel crazy! Have an unusually large single floor house and have put in 14 sun tunnels with 6 or 7 to go. Am in love with the light! One thing is driving me crazy...it is extremely difficult to get the clear ceiling covers off before install, then back n after install. I see that there a seal and it seems to make the covers impossible to get on. Any tips or tricks? I'm killing my grip and am on high ladders for some (not great footing). When unboxing I've figured out that I need to break the seal all around by gently pulling cover away from ring before trying to remove. Any tips to help would be appreciated...have so many to get up and on. Once this is done I'll be good to go and an extremely happy customer!

Love the light in my dark hallway, the solar night light feature is awesome. It’s looks like a moon shining on my ceiling at night. The daylight is great with no additional rise in temperature
Installed four Sun Tunnels

We just replaced three old sun tunnels that were installed prior to us moving into our home over 20 years ago (two 14 inch flexible tunnels in the living room and one 10 inch rigid tunnel in the guest bathroom with 24 inch extension). We bought them through and had them professionally installed. We love the new sun tunnels so much that we added one more 14 inch flexible to our newly remodeled kitchen. The three 14 inch sky tunnels are in vaulted ceilings and the 10 inch bathroom tunnel goes through the attic. I love the inside trim that is flush to the ceiling giving it a much more finished look than the old ones. I don't see any hardware from the inside through the plastic moulding. The exterior low profile flashing looks great as well. I love the bright sunlight coming into our home and I don't think the natural light is blue like other reviews have stated. We are very satisfied and will enjoy these new skylights for many years to come.
Just what we were hoping for

Looking to bring more light into a dark kitchen. Thought sun tunnels were the way to go but a little unsure of the outcome. After installation the sun tunnels exceeded our expectations and provide better lighting than we hoped for.

We installed 5 sun tunnels about a year ago and have loved the light. In a previous house I had two of a competitor's models and I NEVER had any bugs get into the tube ( after 8 years). That's my only complaint about the Velux model..........we have had them cleaned and retaped twice since installation and they need it again! My husband and I do not do ladders, so I have to call the installation company to come clean them. I think it is a design flaw. The last time they came they told us there had been some defective tape and they retaped each unit. No change. And the bugs are like wasp sized, not tiny little bugs. I so wish this could be corrected,because otherwise I adore the light they provide and the overall improvement to the house. The installation company has been super, but I think Velux needs to look into it.

I bought these over 12 years ago and am now specifiying them for a new build I am about to do for my employer. I installed the low profile in my home in a dark hallway and the middle of the kitchen. The first minute we installed them we loved them. We also love the moonlight that flows thru illuminating the kitchen and hall. An awesome buy!!!

My hallway is like a cave, buried in the center of the house. My friend has a similar floor plan but has two solar tubes they are so effective I constantly was trying to turn off the lights when I exited the hall. Now I have the same experience but have learned not to try to turn off the lights when exiting. Now after 12 years of having a cave I have bright light in it. Also got the solar powered LED night light feature. Previously when having company had to suggest the leave lights on so they could see at night, now the hall looks like moon light. Very pleased.

Condensation inside the sun tunnel

I had this installed in September and it has been a great benefit in out bathroom. Now we are in the fall and then winter there is condensation in the tube. I clean it out but it returns when the temperature falls. I don't know how to solve this problem yet and would be grateful for any advise.
