Energy 22 Pro Reference Connoisseur Replacement Tweeters (Dayton DC28F)

Up for a sale is a pair of custom designed tweeter adapter plates made specifically for the Energy 22 Pro Monitor, Reference and Reference Connoisseur speakers as well as a pair of brand new Dayton Audio DC28F-8 Silk Dome Tweeters.
If you own a set of these Energy 22's, you may already know that the tweeters in them are prone to failure and to repair them is near impossible.
The big problem with replacing them is that these tweeters had a huge mounting plate and most replacement tweeters are not nearly as big.

he second issue is that the original tweeter/crossover dips pretty low into the mid-range frequencies so finding a replacement tweeter with a frequency response that goes that low is also hard to find.
A popularly documented replacement option was the Dayton Audio RS28F.
Electrically, they are straight replacements, but unfortunately they are still smaller than the originals and required a lot of fabrication/cabinet modification to get them mounted (and not look goofy.)
The RS28F’s are no longer available, however, the DC28F’s are and they are an outstanding, high definition replacements for the original tweeters. W
e have custom designed a 3D printed adapter plate to resolve the fitment issue for the DC28F's.
These plates are custom designed to allow you to use the DC28F’s and mount them in the original Energy 22 tweeter opening without any modifications.
IMPORTANT NOTE
: This listing contains 1 pair of adapter plates and 1 pair of DC28F-8 tweeters. It also comes with all the mounting hardware for both the tweeters and plates.
Want just the adapters?  We have a separate listing that includes just them and the mounting screws for the plate only.  Please see our other listings.  Be advised that the mounting plate wood screws that we provide are larger than the originals.  As a result, we highly recommend drilling out you original mounting holes (in the speaker cabinet) using a 5/32” or 3/16 drill bit (not included).  Lastly, the original Energy 22 Pro tweeter wire harness has one of the two connectors that are different than what is required for the DC28F's.  As a result, we are including 2 female blade tips that you will need to install on the ends of the existing wiring (one per cabinet).  You will need wires cutters and/or a crimping tool to do replace the wire connector (not included). Procedure is simple; simply snip off the ends/connectors of the existing tweeter wire (the male blade).  (Note which one is positive and which is negative.)  Strip back about 1/8" of the wire insulation and insert it into the female blade connector.  Then using your crimp tool, secure the connector on the wiring.  For an even better connection, you can solder the wires to the connector.
We have spent a lot of time and effort in being able to produce this product for you.  We plan to look for and make other adapter plates for this and other speaker enclosures.  If you have a tweeter you think will work and would like us to fabricate adapter plates for you, we would be honored to do that.  You can either send us one of the tweeters (so we can take the proper measurements) or you can send us the measurements and we will send you the plates. . We calculate shipping costs based on the actual weight and dimensions of the box it will come in and any additional handling costs associated with boxes, packing materials and eBay fees.

Once an item has been paid for, we typically ship within one business day. However, due to things like holidays, weather, or other acts of God outside of our control, we set a handling time to be higher than this so that we do not get penalized by eBay for shipping late.) All items normally ship via USPS or FedEx, however, we reserve the right to use whatever carrier is appropriate.
